About Oklahoma Joe’s

Oklahoma Joe's Review

If you love grilling, you’ve probably heard of Oklahoma Joe’s. And chances are high that you love grilling, given that 80% of all American households own a grill or a smoker, according to a survey from the Heart, Patio and Barbecue Association.

Known for its impressive grills and smokers, which are made to help you get the most flavor out of your meat, each Oklahoma Joe grill has multiple high-performance features.

It all started with a guy named Joe Davidson. Known for his smoked meats and competition wins (a whopping 300), Joe decided to use his $2,000 savings to make 12 meat smokers and sell them at the Oklahoma State Fair in 1987.

After that, he got an order for 100 more, and in 1994, he moved into a factory in Stillwater which gave him the ability to make 100k smokers a year. In 1998 Char-Broil bought his brand, taking it to the next level in terms of production, but their dedication to flavor never changed.

In this Oklahoma Joe’s review, I’ll tell you all the important details about the brand. From their key materials and features to bestsellers to feedback and FAQ, by the end, you’ll know if the brand’s smokers are the right choice for you. Let’s begin by looking at their pros and cons.

Oklahoma Joe's Review

Oklahoma Joe’s is an awesome option for anyone who loves smoked and grilled meat. I emphasize meat here because while you can smoke tofu and vegetables, that’s not what these products are for.

Oklahoma Joe’s Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Oklahoma Joe's Review

This Oklahoma Joe’s review wouldn’t be complete without finding out how well the brand’s smokers and grills perform. So, to discover what they’re really like to cook with, I searched for customer feedback. My first stop was OklahomaJoes.com. Below, I’ve listed a few ratings for the brand’s bestselling products as of May 2023:

  • Bronco Pro Drum Smoker: 4.5/5 stars from more than 15 reviews
  • Bandera Vertical Offset Smoker: 4/5 stars from more than 50 reviews
  • Longhorn Reverse Flow Offset Smoker: 3.9/5 stars from more than 60 reviews
  • Rider 600 Pellet Grill: 3.8/5 stars from more than 125 reviews

In the comments section on the Bandera Vertical Offset Smoker product page, customers express how much they love it. Here’s a glowing Oklahoma Joe’s review I found:

I am so beyond impressed on the quality & performance of the Bandera! Once you get the hang of it, you can ride it low and slow for as long as you need, or if you’re not in for the long smoke, the offset fire box is great if ya just wanna quickly grill up a steak or sump’m… I don’t think there’s a better smoker on the market!

This kind of feedback is common for this brand as people seem to really enjoy the results they get from using these smokers. Is the same level of enjoyment had by all? I sauntered over to a blog called Carnivore Style to find out.

The folks at Carnivore Style did an Oklahoma Joe’s review of the Highland Smoker, awarding it 4.6/5 stars. Here’s what they had to say about its performance:

When smoking meat, I found the reverse smoker to give constant heat and cooking temperature compared to traditional offset smoking.” They continued, “This is because reverse flow smokers redirect the hot air, and unlike with the classic offset smoker, there’s no hotspot.

These smokers are made to give you the most flavor possible, and customers enjoy the unique way they work. This is something that’s also expressed in an Oklahoma Joe’s review for the Longhorn Offset Smoker at Home Depot. It was awarded an overall 4.2/5 star rating from more than 140 shoppers as of May 2023. Here’s one five-star comment:

I have bought mine Monday 03-22-2021 and I have used it every night starting on Tuesday. I have no complaints whatsoever. It gives the best flavor and when the smoke rolls out, it’s a beautiful white cloud. I am in love with it.

Well, there you have it, folks. No matter where I looked, people were in love with the food they cooked up with Oklahoma Joe’s grills and smokers. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows though. For instance, some mentioned there were welding issues on their smokers when they arrived. If that’s the case with yours, let the brand know and its team will send you a replacement.

Is Oklahoma Joe’s Legit?

Oklahoma Joe's Review

I’ve aimed for this Oklahoma Joe’s review to be as transparent about the brand as possible. So while scoping out the brand, I kept both my eyes peeled for red flags. As I mentioned before, the most common customer complaint is about receiving smokers with welding issues.

A handful of customers have had to either weld them or pay for them to be welded. This is something to keep in mind before shopping. However, I found far more comments from shoppers that were happy with what they received. Oklahoma Joe’s is definitely a legit brand, and there havent been any issues with shipping, returns, or such.

Is Oklahoma Joe’s Worth It?

Oklahoma Joe's Review

Thousands of customers choose this brand because of its reputation in the smoking world. In terms of results, it doesn’t disappoint. I think Oklahoma Joe’s is worth it because there’s nothing that has made me think otherwise.
