About Flat Tummy Tea

Flat Tummy Tea Review

Flat Tummy Tea is a cleansing system designed to help active women stay motivated in their weight loss journey.

Their range of teas, protein powders, and snacks claim to assist in curbing cravings, reducing bloat, and boosting the immune system.

It’s pretty common to look at yourself in the mirror and wonder what you can do about that spare tire around your waist, or if you’ve been battling obesity all your life. According to the CDC[1], the prevalence of obesity in the U.S. was 42% during 2017-2018.

It should come as no surprise that proven and tested methods for weight loss and maintenance include a combination[2] of creating a caloric deficit, exercising, behavioral training and self-monitoring (think journaling).

That being said, there are many herbal supplement brands who claim to support a healthy lifestyle on the market these days. And one such brand is Flat Tummy Tea[3].

The Flat Tummy Tea Instagram page has over 1.6M followers, and 550k likes on Facebook. They also have a strong affiliate program, been featured in Cosmopolitan, and even made an appearance on Keeping Up With The Kardashians

This Flat Tummy Tea review will take a close look at the brand, its best-selling products, customer ratings, promotions, and more, to help you decide if you want to pour yourself a cup.

Overview of Flat Tummy Tea

Flat Tummy Tea Review

Bec and Tim Polmear founded Flat Tummy Tea in 2013 to help women feel good. Bec witnessed firsthand how extreme dieting did not minimize bloating and water retention and decided to develop a product that could remedy that.

They advertise that their products are not only delicious, but that they help women stay satisfied while eating clean. Not only that, they claim that their supplements also promote a stronger gut.

Flat Tummy Tea products are made by women on a mission to deliver effective results. As an inclusive company, they offer support however and whenever they can with discount codes available through certain Instagram Influencers.

Flat Tummy Tea Review

Unfortunately, bloating is a really common occurrence these days, and can be caused by too much sodium, a large meal, a dysfunctional gut, a sluggish metabolism, or other underlying health issues.

Trainer’s Tip: If you are constantly bloated, talk to your doctor. Establish that what is causing your bloating is not something more serious, something that needs medical attention such as Crohn’s or cancer.

According to the brand, the Flat Tummy Tea Activate and Cleanse are herbal supplements that speed up your metabolism, improve digestion, and help you feel centered. Be sure to read the brand’s instructions on how to use this system.

Available as a 2 or 4-week program, this tea has a 2-step detox that first cleanses your system then activates your metabolism. Flat Tummy Tea is made with 100% natural ingredients and is priced at $25-$39

Flat Tummy Tea Metabolism Support Iced Tea Review

As we age, our metabolism tends to slow down. We get stuck on the same diet and workout plans, and over the years, the pounds just keep creeping on.

Slow metabolism may be something we can’t avoid. Flat Tummy Tea claims that their Metabolism Support Iced Tea can give us a little more oomph, and burn a few extra calories.

According to Flat Tummy Tea, the metabolism supporting tea makes sure your internal systems are running like a well-oiled machine with antioxidants and a Ginger Citrus flavor.

A 90g, 4-week plan of the Metabolism Support Iced Tea is sold for $19 (reduced from $29).

Flat Tummy Tea Menstrual Cycle Tea Review

According to Flat Tummy Tea, the week before, during, and after our periods can seem like a never-ending bloat-fest. That leaves just one week out of the month where we actually feel our best!

The brand states that their Menstrual Cycle Tea goes a couple of steps further by easing cramps and even putting us in a better mood. Note that this tea is specifically designed to be used around your period and has a mild Apple Cinnamon flavor.

“Feel freakin’ good all month” with a 76g, 4-week supply offered for $19 (down from $29).

Flat Tummy Tea Immune Boosting Shakes Review

Colds happen, and they suck. Not just that, but they sidetrack us from our routines. The better we feel, the more likely we are to stick with our plans and keep making the right choices.

Immune Boosting Shakes is a delicious protein powder packed with 14 vitamins and minerals. Plus it contains:

  • ResistAid
  • An immune-supporting complex
  • 21 grams of plant protein

Our bodies need to support our physiological functions, which is where minerals and vitamins come in. The best way to incorporate these essential micronutrients is by adopting a healthy diet. But if your nutritional needs aren’t met through food, you may benefit from supplements (though they aren’t a replacement for whole foods).

How do you know if your diet is lacking the proper vitamins and minerals? Talk to a naturopath and/or your doctor about doing a blood panel analysis based on your current symptoms. If you’re low energy, check your iron. If you’ve noticed changes in your skin, maybe check your vitamin C[4].

According to Flat Tummy Tea, these vegan shakes help you to stay fit and power through. A 660g jar of the Immune Boosting Shakes rings in at $62 (normally $89).

Flat Tummy Tea Flat Tummy Lollipops Review

The first thing that struck this Flat Tummy Tea review is that these Flat Tummy Lollipops are made with real Cane Sugar. The significance? They claim that fake sugar (even Stevia) can lead to insulin spikes, blood sugar crashes, and pangs of hunger but cane sugar does not.

Cane sugar is the lesser of two evils, and when combined with the natural hunger suppressant, Satiereal,  these candies claim to cause a feeling of satiety.

As described in a recently published narrative review[5] by A.I. Chowdhury and colleagues, Satierreal was found to reduce body weight by reducing your appetite. However, since these lollipops contain sugar, the study results can’t be predicted for this product..

Available in Grape, Watermelon, Yellow Apple, and Berry, these FlatTummyCo Lollipops are $38 (from $55).

Trainer’s tip: Let us be clear though, just because something is marketed as a healthier option, doesn’t make it healthy. Treats are still treats. Lollipops don’t have fiber, healthy fats, vitamins, or minerals. It’s generally better to incorporate whole foods into your diet instead.

Flat Tummy Tea Control Hunger Bundle Review

Diet culture can be insidious – body dissatisfaction[6] is pervasive in North America. This dissatisfaction is usually correlated with unhealthy behavior and problematic relationships with yourself and others.

In addition, drastically cutting calories can lead to gastrointestinal, gynecological, and dermal problems, sleep disorders, and depression[7]. Trying to survive on a chronically low calorie regime can endanger the health of individuals because they don’t incorporate balanced and sufficient amounts of the nutrients necessary for normal body functioning.

But, if you’ve been struggling with your weight and need something to help curb the hunger pangs until you’ve got things under control, you may want to consider this bundle.

The Control Hunger Bundle includes a 4-week plan of:

  • Flat Tummy Weight Management Shakes
  • Flat Tummy Lollipops
  • Flat Tummy Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies

Instead of reaching for something unhealthy, grab a lollipop or a gummy. When you’re packing a gym bag, throw in a shake. The helpful Control Hunger Bundle is $118 (normally $169).

Flat Tummy Tea Beat the Bloat Bundle Review

Customers of Flat Tummy Tea say that they are grateful for the product because of the relief it offers. After all, having a swollen, painful abdomen can dampen their mood. The brand states that Beat the Bloat Bundle will help reduce bloating, in part because it helps the body process heavy meals more efficiently and gets rid of water retention naturally.

  • Flat Tummy Tea
  • Flat Tummy Calm and Relaxation
  • Flat Tummy Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies
  • A tea strainer

This belly-loving Beat the Bloat Bundle is offered for $91 (normally $131).

Trainer’s Tip: Have abdominal pain after eating? Try keeping a food journal for two weeks. Don’t just track the foods you eat, track how you feel before and after meals. Note how everything you put in your body impacts your energy. It’s best to minimize the habits and choices that are not serving you.

Flat Tummy Tea Shaker Bottle Review

Shakers can come in handy all the time, whether you’re on the go or spending long hours at a desk.

The Shaker Bottle has a detachable bottom, so all you have to do is put 2 scoops in and mix when you’re ready. That way your Flat Tummy Shakes stay fresh and don’t congeal due to the high fiber nature of the shakes.

Trainer’s Tip: Think preparation, preparation, preparation. Prep options in advance so you don’t grab the first thing you find. Healthy eating doesn’t take much time, but it does take advance planning and mindfulness!

This convenient Shaker Bottle is on sale for $14 (from $20).

Flat Tummy Tea Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Flat Tummy Tea Review

“I normally don’t write reviews but with this product I feel like it is worth writing for . This is my second week doing the tea and the shakes and it does what it says. I may not see much on the scale but when I tell you I am swimming my clothes I need a new wardrobe.”

Some complaints stemmed from a few customers who came across flavors they weren’t a fan of, but that’s really based on personal preferences.

Is Flat Tummy Tea Worth It?

Flat Tummy Tea Review

Only you know what is “worth it” or not. You know your financial realities, goals, health and injury history, and overall health picture. The key here is to remember there aren’t miracle health solutions, and that teas/snacks/shakes should be used in addition to a nutritious diet and healthy lifestyle.

Lastly, keep in mind that diet culture can be insidious. Sure, the Flat Tummy Tea brand states their products are not intended for weight loss, but they sell items that curb hunger and their visuals are extremely image conscious.

Trainer’s Tip: Take a moment to reflect on your eating and exercise history. Do you have a history of disordered eating? If you have a fairly healthy body image, have a well-balanced lifestyle and are simply looking for convenient healthy snacks, then Flat Tummy Tea might be for you!

Does Flat Tummy Tea really work? Many customers have experienced a positive short term change. Thousands of customers are enjoying their Flat Tummy Tea. But long-term results? The jury is out. Check out before and after pics on FlatTummyCo.com

Be an informed consumer. Read about the product, peruse the reviews, assess your current relationship with your body, and make the decision that works for you. Balance is key. Most importantly, always listen to your body.

Flat Tummy Tea Review

What’s in Flat Tummy Tea?

Flat Tummy Tea has 2 varieties: Activate and Cleanse

Ingredients for their Activate tea include Peppermint Leaf, Lemon Balm Leaf, Liquorice Root, Dandelion Root, Cleavers (leaf), Fennel Seed, Green Tea Leaf, Caraway, and Cardamom pods.

Wondering how all of these natural ingredients work together to help flatten your tummy? Let’s break it all down.

A review article[8] published in the World Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research highlights that peppermint has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic properties.

Regarding lemon balm extract, a preclinical study[9] published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, found lemon balm may help to reduce body weight, insulin resistance, and liver fat accumulation in mice.

The effects of licorice on body weight were investigated in a small clinical study[10] conducted at the University of Padua. Fifteen healthy, normal-weighted volunteers received a licorice formulation for 2 months.

Researchers found that although the body weight did not change, the body fat mass was significantly reduced. However, licorice causes suppression of plasma renin and aldosterone activity, which leads to sodium retention, potassium loss, and hypertension.

Dandelion has several beneficial properties[11]: it is anti-diabetic, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and has hepatoprotective properties. Not sure what hepatoprotective means? It means  dandelions have “helpful results on the liver”.

Cleavers[12] (also known as Galium aparine) is a climbing plant that has long been used in folk medicine[13] for a variety of reasons, mostly as a diuretic, and in the treatment of some stomach, gout, and epilepsy. It is known for its antioxidant properties[14] and is used to boost immunity and aid fluid retention.

Now let’s talk about fennel. In the book[15], Medicinal Plants of South Africa, the authors describe the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties of fennel seeds. Moreover, they highlight antispasmodic and hepatoprotective effects. Like Cleavers, fennel is touted to have antioxidant properties.

Fenne[16] is a good source of nutrients such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, and zinc, and is said to positively influence various systems in the body such as gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, reproductive, and nervous systems resulting in diverse metabolic and physiologic actions.

Although green tea has been known to reduce body weight and increase energy metabolism, a Cochrane meta-analysis[17] found the results to be scientifically moderate, so don’t stop exercising or watching your food intake just because you drink green tea!

That said, not everything is about your weight. A narrative review[18] published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine highlights that green tea polyphenols appear to improve inflammatory bowel disease symptoms by its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Even caraway seeds may help reduce body weight. How[19]? Caraway aids in the reduction of appetite and management of thyroid hormone, and stimulates metabolism. In a clinical trial[20] conducted by M. Kazemipoor and G. A. Cordell, 70 obese and overweighted women were randomized to receive caraway seeds extract or a placebo formulation for 3 months.

Participants didn’t change their diet, but did continue to exercise as usual. The women taking caraway experienced a significant reduction in body weight and body fat mass when compared with the placebo group. These women were classified as obese but more general population trials are needed.

That said, these seeds have other health benefits. Caraway[21] is used in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Finally, cardamom was found to improve fatty liver and reduce glucose and cholesterol levels in a clinical study[22] conducted in Tehran. In the study, 87 participants with overweight/obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease were randomly assigned to receive cardamom supplements or a placebo with meals for 3 months.

Results showed a significant improvement in insulin resistance, cholesterol profile, and grade of fatty liver in the cardamom group versus the control group.

Now for the tea. Ingredients for their Cleanse tea include Senna Leaf, Peppermint Leaf, Cassia Chamaecrista Pods, Liquorice Root, Caraway Seeds, Dandelion Root, and Rhubarb Root.

Senna[23] leaf is a non-prescription laxative. Like other laxatives, it’s recommended to not take it for more than 1-2 weeks. Side effects include diarrhea, dehydration, and potassium loss. Acute liver failure[24] has been reported in cases of chronic use as it interacts with other drugs such as antiarrhythmics, diuretics, and corticosteroids. Plus, its combination with licorice can lead to severe hypokalemia (potassium loss).

Now for a more positive description, let’s look at Cassia Chamaecrista. According to a literature review[25] from University Lucknow, Cassia Chamaecrista may have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and hypolipidemic effects.

Lastly, let’s look at Rhubarb Root. A narrative review[26] published in Chinese Medicine describes potential antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, laxative, antifibrotic and antitumor properties. Important note: When taken inappropriately, it also causes serious side effects including hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and potential cancer risk.

How does Flat Tummy Tea work?

The brand claims that their Flat Tummy Tea works by cleansing out your digestive tract and speeding up metabolism.

Although it’s not formulated to make you lose weight, some customers experience less bloating and water retention and may see a difference in their bodies. Be sure to read the Flat Tummy Tea instructions before use.

Is Flat Tummy Tea safe?

As mentioned before, some ingredients may cause serious side effects so running any new supplements by your doctor is a good first step. If you have any health problems or use any medication on a regular basis, you should ask your doctor before taking the product.

Rhubarb root can cause hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and potential cancer risk. Senna is a serious laxative effect, which can lead to trips to the toilet, dehydration, malnutrition, etc. Listen to your body. Stop if taking it causes really bad effects. Don’t take it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Is Flat Tummy Tea for guys?

Flat Tummy Tea was specifically created and marketed towards women. But there are no ingredients in the blends, lollipops, or gummies that aren’t safe for men to ingest!

Does Flat Tummy Tea make you poop?

Yes, you may end up having a bowel movement after drinking Flat Tummy Tea. Some ingredients in their Cleanse teas are known to be natural laxatives, such as Senna Leaf.

Does Flat Tummy Tea expire?

Flat Tummy Tea is made up of dried herbs and leaves. Tea doesn’t really expire, but it may lose flavor and become less effective over time.

However, some of their other products, namely their shakes, do expire. Be sure to check the expiration date on your order when it arrives.
