About Marcy Home Gym

Marcy Pro Home Gym Review

Marcy is your at-home alternative to outdoor fitness and commercial gyms. Stop wasting your time trekking to and from an athletic facility, freezing your buns off, or melting in the heat. Marcy is an online brand specializing in exercise equipment, including a wide variety of stationary bikes, steppers, ellipticals, rowing machines, and treadmills.

Odds are, you aren’t getting enough exercise. Unfortunately, you’re not alone. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, only about 53% of Americans get enough aerobic exercise, and a measly 23% get enough of both aerobic and strengthening exercise.

Why? One big reason is time. Between school, work, social commitments, self-care, and the general ups and downs of life, finding time to commute to the gym can be tricky. In fact, a study[1] of barriers to exercise among older adults found that nearly half of participants cited not having enough time as the main factor.

This is where Marcy comes in. When you work out at home, you don’t have to budget travel time to and from the gym. You can bike as your kids play games or walk on your treadmill as you take conference calls. You can row as you watch TV or pump iron on your lunch to rev you up for that important afternoon meeting.

Trainer’s Tip: The key to adopting a healthier lifestyle is consistency, and the key to being consistent is convenience! Set yourself up for success! One way to do this is to create a home gym. Now, don’t stop with just buying equipment. Buying the equipment is the crucial first step.

Step two is creating systems that will ensure you use your home gym. Your health won’t just happen. You have to set yourself up for success. Pick a TV show you only watch when exercising. Create a family challenge where the person who reaches their exercise goal gets to pick the movie for family movie night. Get yourself an accountability buddy.

Designed for cardio training, Marcy machines are geared to increase your upper, lower, and core strength. With a sizable following of 10.6k on Instagram, they have also been affiliated with numerous influencers, including Melissa Kendter and Wendy Leeann

Overview of Marcy Home Gym

Marcy Pro Home Gym Review

Initially founded in 1913 in Chicago, Illinois, Marcy Pro was part of Walter Marcyan’s passion project when it came to weight lifting.

Considered a big name in the body-building profession, he surpassed many records while winning several awards over the years. Later on, he decided to open up his own equipment company in Glendale, California.

Re-established in 1959, Marcy Pro now runs under its parent company, IMPEX. Known for founding Apex, Steelbody, Hers, Bionic Body, and Competitor, this sporting goods retailer was explicitly made to sell cardio-related exercise equipment

With its headquarters located in Pomona, California, Marcy Pro prides itself on offering high-quality products at competitive prices

As they say in a statement on their website: “Marcy features a wide variety of weight training equipment to meet your training goals. Whether you’re looking to add a new component to your strength training, lose weight, build endurance, or looking to recover, Marcy can provide … the right exercise equipment and accessories for your home gym.”

Marcy Pro Home Gym Review

Before I get further into my Marcy home gym review, let’s go over some of the brand’s highlights:

Highlights

  • A wide variety of indoor exercise equipment to choose from to help you achieve your fitness goals
  • Provides a more convenient solution to gym memberships
  • Users can work out at home if outdoor exercise is not an option
  • Free shipping on select items
  • Offers a warranty on select products
  • Does not offer shipping outside of the contiguous US

Whether you’re on a treadmill binge for weight loss or rowing your way to a set of toned abs, Marcy Pro has an impressive selection of exercise equipment suited for every need. Their inventory includes steppers, ellipticals, stationary bikes, rowers, and more.

Considered as add-ons to the average workout routine, they also offer weights, racks, barbells, and gym mats. Moving forward in my Marcy Pro home gym review, I will go over a small list of their best-sellers to help you get started.

Trainer’s Tip: make sure you fit your exercise purchase to your “fitness personality.” Thrive in your own fitness lane! It doesn’t matter what your mother, daughter, or favorite celebrity uses. What matters is what YOU will use. The best workout benefits are useless if you don’t actually do them.

Take an inventory of your current and past exercise successes. What do you enjoy doing? When have you been the most consistent with your exercise? What is realistic for you to do? What equipment fits your current life, fitness goals, and injury history? Buy what will work for YOU. Buy what you will use!

Marcy Pro Home Gym Equipment Review

It’s time to get physical. Ranging from bench presses to ellipticals, this sporting goods brand offers a wide variety of workout equipment designed to help you get into shape.

In this section of my Marcy Pro home gym review, I will go over a few of their most popular modelsbelow.

Marcy Exercise Bike Review

Pedal your way to weight loss with the Recumbent Exercise Bike. Designed with magnetic resistance and eight different tensions, this stationary two-wheeler is intended to be seamless and whirr-free.

Built with an adjustable high-density foam cushion for comfort, it also comes with supportive handlebars and custom foot straps for added security.

Biking offers an excellent low-impact cardiovascular workout. Never underestimate the importance of improving cardiovascular health. Exercise promotes[2] weight reduction and weight maintenance, positively impacts blood pressure, lowers “bad” cholesterol, and can raise “good cholesterol.” Plus, movement can positively impact brain and joint function, mood, energy, and sexual function. Plus, even a moderate bike ride can burn about 300 calories in an hour, and this number increases as you increase the intensity.

So get moving…your entire body will thank you!

Trainer’s Tip: it is all too easy to skip a workout. I totally get it! If you feel the temptation to skip, try finding ways to make the exercise more enticing. Try watching your favorite television show or listening to music that will pump you up! Your future self will thank you.

To help keep track of your workout goals, the Marcy Pro Marcy Recumbent Exercise Bike with Resistance ME-709 features an LCD computer display to monitor speed, distance, and calories burned.Set with transport wheels to make storing easier, this exercise bike is a steal for $210.

Marcy Pro Smith Machine Review

The Marcy Smith Machine / Cage System is designed for workout enthusiasts and trained professionals alike. If you hate going to the gym, this bad boy is a convenient solution for at-home training. It includes not one, but 6 different training modules:

  1. Olympic smith bar with sealed linear bearings
  2. Free weight squat rack
  3. Low pulley and footrest
  4. Pec deck station
  5. High cable crossovers
  6. A weight bench with a dual-function leg developer and preacher curl pad

Optimized for a full-body workout, users can tone their hamstrings, abs, and biceps. This frame also comes with 6 plate storage pegs for an easy storage solution. Don’t worry, this model can withstand the most intensive workout sessions with its tubular steel frame

If you were thinking of just sticking to cardio, think again. One study[3] found that a combination[4] of endurance and strength training significantly reduced cholesterol levels and HbA1c levels (an indicator of diabetes). Additionally, research[5] has shown that strength training can help to reduce anxiety and increase cognition and sleep quality. This study[6] confirms this as well.

Trainer’s Tip: A well-rounded routine includes strength work, cardiovascular work (including intervals), balance work, and mobility/flexibility exercises. It can be easy to stick with what you know and love, but if you want the best chance of running injury free for life, you have to stay limber and strong. The main takeaway is to make sure you are incorporating strength work into your weekly routine.

Made to complement the average workout routine, accessories such as a lat bar, shiver bar, and ankle straps are also included. Priced at $1,100, complete the Marcy Smith Machine / Cage System with your choice of Marcy Pro weights.

Marcy Pro Smith Machine / Cage System with Pull-Up Bar and Landmine Station Review

The Marcy Smith Machine / Cage System with Pull-Up Bar and Landmine Station transforms your average at-home studio into a professional gym club. This model can be used without a spotter, thanks to its pulley system.

Built with height-adjustable dip handles, a multi-grip pull-up bar, and a versatile bench, users can take full advantage of this complete set for toning and strengthening. Whether you’re healthy or have a pre-existing musculoskeletal condition like arthritis, strength training[7] is a great way to reduce any aches and pains you may have. Need more incentive to lift[8]? Benefits include improved physical performance, functional fitness and independence, and bone density. Plus, strength work assists in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes by decreasing visceral fat and improving insulin sensitivity.

Trainer’s Tip: To support healthy aging, it’s crucial to strength train (i.e., get squatting), work on balance and single-leg strength activities (try standing on one leg and closing your eyes), and do intervals. Why should you prioritize strength moves such as lunges and squats? The ability to rise from the floor (basically stand from a low lunge or squat) is a large predictor[9] of all-cause mortality. The point is it is vital to create a well-balanced routine and embrace the “today not tomorrow” message. Your body will not maintain its current strength, stamina, and mobility without conscious effort.

This Marcy Pro smith cage with bench combo also comes with an adjustable seat pad, a preacher cushion for rest, and transport wheels for storage. It can accommodate up to 600 lbs in total in terms of the weight capacity on the bench.

Complete with several other attachments to make full use of your workout session, this workout station costs $1,800 at checkout.

Marcy Pro Standard Bench with 100lb Weight Set Review

Cast those dumbbells aside and get serious with the Standard Bench with 100lb Weight Set. Considered an excellent choice for novice trainers, this model features a vinyl-coated seat with 5 different position settings

Not sure why you should invest? Not only is the bench press a multi-joint motion (i.e., it works multiple muscles), it is a staple of upper body training. The press strengthens your pectoral (chest) muscles, as well as the deltoids (shoulders) and triceps (back of upper arm).

Complete with a standard size weight bar, it also provides varying plate sizes, including 25-lb, 15-lb, and 10-lb weights.

Built with a durable steel frame and a powder-coated finish, this Marcy Pro Bench Press can withstand those vigorous workout sessions without pause. Made to accommodate up to 300 lbs, the bench set costs $430

Sadly, this model is currently sold out, but keep checking back on their website to snag this upper-body enhancer. If you need something now, try the Marcy Pro Olympic Weight Bench.

Marcy Pro Folding Standard Weight Bench Review

You can daydream all you want, but those 6-pack abs aren’t going to form without doing a bit of legwork. The Folding Standard Weight Bench press enables you to get that beach-toned body thanks to its adjustable seat and inclusion of comfortable padding.

Optimized for 5’ weight bars, this frame features high-density upholstery for extra support to help users push through that extra set.

As a plus, this model is ergonomically designed. If you’re a veteran strength trainer, you know that proper form is essential for getting the most out of your workout and avoiding injury[11]

This model is built to be collapsible and easily stored. For those who have extra room in their workout studio, perhaps it’s also time to take a gander at the Marcy Pro Deluxe Cage System

Designed to hold 300lbs, the Folding Standard Weight Bench costs $250.

Marcy Pro Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

Marcy Pro Home Gym Review

After combing through the internet for my Marcy Pro home gym review, I found that many customers favored this exercise brand. Most of their best-selling products have dozens to hundreds of positive comments on the company website.

For example, the Marcy Smith Machine / Cage System with Pull-Up Bar and Landmine Station showcased a total of 165 reviews with an average score of 4.3/5 stars.

Buyers have noted that this product was easy to assemble and well worth the money.

“Anyone considering building a home gym, this is the one for you. The versatility for working out was a big surprise. I was able to take most of what I did in the gym and recreate it all on this system. Well made, heavy duty.”

Other products on the brand’s official website have similarly great ratings:

  • Marcy Smith Machine / Cage System | MD-9010G: 4.3/5 stars out of over 850 reviews
  • Marcy Pro Smith Machine Home Gym Training System Cage | SM-4903: 4.7/5 stars out of nearly 59 reviews
  • Marcy Inspire Rubber Hex Dumbbell | RHDB-005: 4.6/5 stars out of over 632 reviews

I also found positive ratings on some of their Amazon product pages. For the Marcy Pro Smith Machine Weight Bench Home System, there are over 59 comments posted with a general score of 4.7/5 stars

Buyers have noted that this product helped them achieve a full-body workout. Others stated that the model provided a smooth exercise experience with no bumps or friction.

“So far this machine is everything I was looking for. It is short enough to fit in my basement and took the place of my old Smith machine, squat rack, and pull-up machine. I went from three pieces of equipment to one. The cable system is very smooth.”

Independent blogs such as Fit & Me and The Home Gym also gave favorable reviews. Authors on both websites concluded that Marcy Pro’s strengths lie in its versatility and durability.

The brand’s unique foldable design made their products more space-friendly and ergonomic. On the Marcy Diamond Elite Smith Cage System MD-9010G, Fit & Me wrote:

“This is by far the most advanced Marcy Home Gym that you could possibly go with…It comes with a great number of accessories and attachments which allow you to perform well over 100 different exercises in order to give you a full-body workout from top to bottom.”

While looking at Marcy Pro home gym reviews, I found a few negative comments. Some Amazon customers found the assembly process to be a nightmare. So make sure you plan for extra time during assembly, and be ready to contact their customer service team in case you need help. But this can be a struggle with any piece of equipment and seemed to be in the minority.

From what I’ve seen so far, it seems that the brand has more pros than cons, with many customers loving Marcy Pro products for their versatility, size, and durability.

Is Marcy Pro Worth It?

Is Marcy Pro legit? Based on my review, I’m inclined to say yes. We all know how inconvenient gym memberships are. Unsurprisingly, one study[12] found that only 50% of people renew their gym memberships after one year. With costly monthly fees and scheduling issues, we often ditch our habitual exercise routines to save ourselves the headache.

Marcy Pro offers a wide selection of workout equipment designed to be used in the comfort of your own home. Customers can train on their own time while saving a bit of money in the long run.

With that being said, their products can be pretty expensive at first glance, but buyers need to consider how much they will save compared to an average gym membership.

According to Healthline, an average monthly subscription rounds up to $60$70. That can seriously drain your bank account, especially if you don’t make regular use of it.

On the downside, negative reviews from customers stated that products came with missing parts and that some workout equipment is not designed for all users.

Given all of this, after writing my Marcy Pro home gym review, I still recommend the brand for its overall cost-effective gym solutions free of shady subscription plans.
